Michael at Internet Monk asks an interesting question on his blog: Are American Christians Persecuted?.
Some of the commentators seem to think that they are but I'm much more in agreement with the original blog post.

Like Michael, I live in Kentucky, in the heart of the so-called "Bible Belt." Here, far from being "persecuted," most Christians enjoy a social advantage by virtue of professing Christianity. In fact, too often they wield their faith as a weapon against those who either profess no faith, or at least practice their faith in a way deemed defective.
In other words, far from being subject to persecution, in Kentucky many Christians engage in the sort of persecution that they profess to be victim of.
