Does anyone know whether that was Wesley's Chapel? It looked like it might be, but I'm not that familiar with it.
I don't *think* so, but it's so long since I was at Wesley's Chapel that I wouldn't want to be too bold.
Maybe a Central Hall somewhere? It looks rather big.
It could have been an Orthodox one.
Interesting, Steve, why do you say that? Is it something about the architecture?
It is Wesley's Chapel. It doesn't help that you don't actually get many good views of it in the video.
Thanks, Mark. It was because of the brief glimpses that I wasn't sure. I suppose in the original television show, people would have known it was coming from Wesley's Chapel.
Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Your post caught my eye because I have one on Wesley's hymn myself this morning. This is one of the greatest hymns in the English language. His description of conversion ("Long my imprisoned spirit...") can hardly be equalled by any other hymn.
I've enjoyed the video clip many times myself. It's a wonderful example of congregational singing. (Too bad the synch is off a bit.)
Robert, I love this hymn and have the same feelings about the words "my chains fell off" which always send a shiver down my spine and sometimes reduce me to tears.
I will check out our blog.
In listening to this clip again, I saw someone I know in the congregation (I lived in London for 17 years). It *is* too bad about the synch but it's still worth it.
