Very Entertaining

For some mightly funny new hymn lyrics with tunes included, run, don't walk to: THE WENCHOSTER CATHEDRAL HYMN BOOK

I hope that, as a self-professed liberal, I might be allowed to say that I think Let us with an open mind (Sea of Faith) is hysterical:
Let us, with an open mind,
Put the formal Church behind:
Sea of Faith, O let us sing,
For we don't believe a thing!

Cupitt's books we try to read,
But our minds he doth exceed:
Sea of Faith, O let us sing,
For we don't believe a thing!
Hat tip to Richard at Connexions.

If Cupitt is the liberal standard bearer, then I'm conservative! :-)
It's clear that Cupitt doesn't believe much, anyhow.

Cupitt is a UK analouge of Spong and Crossan in the sense that once someone tells you that you're a theological liberal according to their criteria, you then get told that you're another Don Cupitt.

I didn't really want to start another thread about "what is a liberal", so maybe we should just leave it at that.

Better to go laugh at all the fun hymn lyrics!

True! The lyrics are very funny.
And your comparison of Cupitt with Spong or Crossan seems fairly apropo.

Thanks Rodney. I showed it to a friend last night who also thought it was mightily entertaining.
