Israel is a Jewish country and the home of the Jews. The Jews believe tht the holyland was promised to them and see this land as a divine right. This land therfore is occupied....by Jews as it is their land. The bible cleary states how the tribes according to the children of Israel shared out the land after entry into it after the conclusion of the exodus from Egypt. There is therefore no question that the modern state of Israel continues the unbroken occupation of jews in their holy land. Chistians should support this right of the Jews to dwell in their land. Jesus did not seem to say tht the land should be given over to other groups of peole.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20471270.post-450465786483853112010-07-16T00:04:34.633+01:002010-07-16T00:04:34.633+01:00Thanks for both your contributions. I didn't hear it that way and the individual(s) I know who got upset with it wouldn't articulate their views beyond the assertion that it was obviously antisemetic.PamBGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11324370506889227234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20471270.post-23908673481012581172010-07-14T17:34:41.975+01:002010-07-14T17:34:41.975+01:00"Of course, Israel today is not the same as I..."Of course, Israel today is not the same as Israel in the bible. In the bible, Israel refers to the people of Abraham’s descendants who are in covenant with God. Israel today is a modern, secular State, created in 1948. Where, if you live in the West Bank: Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah, there is no freedom of travel, no freedom to leave the country and return, no freedom to plant your olive trees or tend your land, no freedom to marry and live together where you choose." I think this might be where the problem arises. Israel can be seen as oppressing the 'other' as they were oppressed and not acting according to God's convent. I could be wrong.J A Y Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11575488467713996955noreply@blogger.com
